Airlift MemorialExhibitionLinks

Nissenhut Faßberg (2)

This part of the exhibition is dedicated to the human factor, the technical issues as well as the organisational problems which occurred during the Airlift at Fassberg. How did the British and Americans manage all those aspects and how did it influence daily life in and around the base? Who actually knows, that civil airlines flew for the british forces? Relicts of a command post are presented as well as original orders, medals, awards, technical handbooks and much more in various show cases. In addition, a variety of model aircrafts are arranged along with the pilots who flew some of the planes. Also the presentation remembers of the victims of the airlift. The Community of Fassberg, the Airforce School of Engineering 3 and the Airlft Association at Fassberg show their respect and honour the visitims in a ceremony on August 27, of each year.
